Aust Post Bombs Again!
Doesn't the P.O. Sell Stamps??
The very quiet increase in the postage of a standard letter seems to be a bit of a secret. This is probably because Australia Post realise they are doing a pretty poor job of their basic task. Not may customers know about the price hike.
Now, try to buy a $0.05 stamp so that you can use up the stamps you have on hand - "mission impossible". After queueing at the Post Office you will find that they have some of these elusive stamps on order and that they will arrive some time in the future when you can look forward to lining up again! Most annoying to all those who have again wasted precious time at the Post Office!
More proof that they are failing in a basic task because they are too busy attending to products normally sold elsewhere - printers, office machines, greeting cards, phone credits, bill payments, etc. etc.

An absolute joke IMO.. however it is the GPOs fault, keep in mind a lot of small LPOs are still small local businesses in a franchise model and do not sell office equipment, printers, computer peripherals, etc.
Government owned LPOs are a joke and it seems the cashiers are trained for retail. My example is the fact I went to get an express post mail satchel one morning in a Perth CBD post office, and got attempted to be upsold 3 times by the cashier.. i.e "Is that all, would you like some phone credit? I answer back no, I then get "Would you like some iTunes credit then", and pretty much I explain, yet again that "THATS ALL THANK YOU". They finally get the point. All my mail now goes by my Local LPO in a small shopping centre nearby. They focus 100% on their core business and only have a small stationery, calendar and general merchandise (i.e toys & books) for side sales. I get a friendly smile (rather then a "You right?" or an angry stare) and fantastic service, something you can't find in a Government run GPO.
