Early Morning Gambling

While we are doing the deliveries, it is astounding to see how many vehicles are travelling without lights around dawn. These drivers must be too asleep to realise the great danger they pose to themselves and others.

We find the greatest risk is with darker vehicles. These are almost invisible under certain conditions, especially early in the morning. If the weather is overcast, this danger increases. This is an unnecessary life and death gamble on our streets.

At the other extreme are those who drive in the dark with fog lights in clear conditions. It is so difficult to see as these vehicles approach from the opposite direction. (I felt that this had been made illegal in recent times.) With some of these lights so bright and so badly adjusted, the only thing to do in defence is pull over and stop. Flashing the other driver with your high beam only creates a situation where both drivers can't see!
